201 introduces our new winemaker

It is with a tinge of sadness we farewell our winemaker Scott Stephens as he takes a full time role with the new owners of Capercaillie Wines. Scott has been our winemaker since our inception in 2009, overseeing our first three vintages and playing an instrumental role in the 21 medals we have received to date. We thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best in his new role.

But they say when one door closes another opens and it is with great pleasure that we announce Matt Burton as our new winemaker. Matt has an exemplary resume having plied his trade in the Hunter Valley, the United States & France before taking on a role at Coldstream Hills in the Yarra Valley. He returned to the Hunter Valley to become head winemaker at Wandin Valley Estate and was recognised as the "Hunter Valley's Rising Star" in 2010. Matt has already played a pivotal role in the development of our latest wine, the 2012 Semi Semi, which is due for release shortly.

Another medal at the Sydney Royal Wine Show

And on another bright note, we're pleased to announce that our 2010 Chambourcin recently received yet another medal, this time at the coveted Sydney Royal Wine Show.

First held in 1826, the Sydney Royal Wine Show is one of the oldest and most highly regarded wine shows on the Australian circuit. In 2012 it attracted an astonishing 2,241 entries and our success this year follows on from our previous success in 2010 for our 2009 Semillon - the very first medal 201 ever received!
